Although improving, typically, institutions of higher education have played catch up with the legal requirements for digital accessibility. The most significant recent requirement is the newly updated ADA Title II, signed into law in April 2024, which specifies the accessibility standards applicable to web content and mobile applications, and which sets specific compliance deadlines. In this birds-of-a-feather session we will share our thoughts and plans about how KY public colleges and universities can prepare to comply with this ruling. We will address questions such as: Who is responsible for coordinating a campus-wide response at various institutions; How to develop processes and monitor progress; What is a realistic timeline, and more. This session is intended as a guided discussion during which participants will share their understanding of the digital accessibility requirements and will discuss ideas and strategies that can help all of us become better prepared to meet the digital accessibility compliance deadlines, as spelled out in the updated ADA Title II.
